Short Academic Biography
  • ​Dr. Nathan Nagar is a Data Science Specialist at LIV. He earned his PhD from Tel Aviv University, where he was supervised by Prof. Tal Pupko at The Shmunis School of Biomedicine and Cancer Research. With a strong background in bioinformatics and computational biology, he has worked extensively in structural bioinformatics, proteomics, and the application of machine learning to biological data analysis. He has experience in both academia and industry, having previously worked as a Bioinformatics Scientist at Enzymit Ltd. and as an R&D Scientist at multiple research institutions.

Research Interests & Current Projects

  • Structural Bioinformatics: Application of computational methods for protein structure prediction and analysis.

  • Machine Learning in Bioinformatics: Development of deep learning models for protein evolution based on structural information.

  • Proteomics: Mass spectrometry-based proteomics analysis.

  • Computational Genomics: Analysis of high-throughput sequencing data.

  • Workflow Automation & HPC Computing: Implementation of Snakemake workflows, containerized applications, and high-performance computing solutions for bioinformatics research.

  • Software Development: Building bioinformatics applications in Python and R, including command-line tools and web-based platforms.

  • Current Projects:

    • Establishing Viral Data Science at LIV.

    • Providing computational research services and advising LIV-affiliated research groups.
